Using Concrete to Revitalize a Campground
If you own a campground or are a host at one, you’ll understand that the revitalization or upgrades you make are an investment. Your grounds are your business. That’s why it is important to keep them up to date and looking great. If a guest has a bad experience at your park, chances are they will write about it online and that can affect future business.
We understand the importance of durable items that can be used at every campground. Our products are manufactured in the precast process using concrete. They are extremely durable and will last longer than the same items made out of wood, plastic, or concrete pieces that bolt together. We’ve come up with some ways to revitalize your campgrounds to keep those campers coming back year after year.
-Offering full amenities at each campsite. It’s important to include several amenities at each site. This will ensure families have the necessities of an enjoyable camping trip. Standard amenities include picnic tables and fire pits/rings. Additional amenities can include service/prep tables, family barbecues, food lockers, water posts, waste receptacles and benches. Although these amenities may not be “necessary”, they will add value in the eyes of your campers and that means additional value in your pocket.
-Offering amenities throughout your campground. If space is limited and only a picnic table and fire pit/ring will fit at each campsite, it’s a good idea to implement other products such as waste/recycling receptacles, water posts, benches, and barbecues throughout the campground.
Waste and Recycling Receptacles. By placing several smaller waste receptacles between campsites, you’ll avoid having frequent overflows of trash and recyclables.
Water Posts. Providing a water source is very important at any campground. Concrete water posts provide a long lasting solution to the ones made out of wood. Over time, water causes the wood to deteriorate. Concrete water posts solve the wood rot problem.
Barbecues. Instead of having a barbecue at each site, why not have a group area where all of the campers can come together? What better way to get everyone connected than hosting a campground barbecue for special events and holiday weekends? I recall a campground my family visited on the north coast of California. Our usual campground was full so we decided to try out a new one. I was so impressed when we heard they were hosting a campground barbecue and showing an evening movie for the kids. We made new friends and felt connected to our fellow campers. My family now has a new “usual” campground on the coast.
-Upgrading signage. Make a lasting first impression by upgrading your campground signage. Signs that are easy to read and stand out will help your guests find you easier. I’m sure we can all relate to how frustrating it is to be looking for business that has very little or ineffective signage. Incorporating a concrete sign at your entrance with your business name can make life easier for those who are unfamiliar with your location and/or the local area. Our signs are customizable, very durable, will last longer than any other type of sign, and are easy to maintain.
Other ideas for beautifying your grounds are upgrades to the amenities around your visitor center, general store, and amphitheaters. Waste receptacles, including ash/trash receptacles, and benches can add functionality to the outside of your buildings. Typically amphitheaters have wooden benches, but you run into the wood rot problem. Concrete benches are a great answer to this problem, and can even have woodgrain texture seats!
Creating a positive, memorable stay for your guests will impact the chances they will keep coming back. Incorporating a few of these ideas can help contribute to the growth of your business.
