In 2022, California State Parks approached us to provide an option for new signage at Oceano Campground, located at Pismo State Beach. The original sign was made of wood and was at the point of needing to be replaced. California State Parks was interested in materials other than wood for their sign, but wanted it to look at close as possible to the original signage. We've done many items with a woodgrain texture, so we believed we could pull it off. Outdoor Creations proposed a precast concrete sign with a woodgrain texture, pilasters that would have a distressed wood pier appearance, and stainless signs that could be easily changed when needed (campground full/open or closed). All of the woodgrain surfaces have a stain applied which helps bring out the high points of the texture. The sign also features hand painted woodgrain detail on the top and sides of the sign. This sign might look like wood, but it has the durability of concrete.
